## Experimental Instructions

In this series of experiments, you will control the action of three different forces and three different masses. The force will give an impulse to the mass which will then accelerate. If you set friction (slider bar) the velocity will damp out due to the friction. If there is no friction, the mass after receiving the impulse will reach a constant velocity and sail off the screen. Meters show you the velocity, position and time and these are also represented graphically.

The forces have three different values:

Red = 30 , Purple = 20, Blue = 10 ,

This experiment is very straight forward.

• Select a Force by clicking on it
• Select a mass by clicking on it
• adjust friction as desired
• Click the Start Button and observe the behavior

With friction set to zero, which combinations of Force and Mass will produce the largest and smallest accelerations? Test this prediction by running the experiment.

Now set friction to 0.2 and observe the behavior and compare to the caes of no friction.
